A little bit of history

In 1972 Johann Terbeek established Heinrich Elbracht oHG in Emden together with two partners. Operating from this head office the company started to provide its service to shipping companies in insurance matters – predominantly in Northern Germany and focusing on the shipping companies in the so-called “Ems-Valley”.

In 1992 became the sole proprietor of the company and managed to successfully lead the company into the next millennium.

In 2002 Dr Dirk Terbeek, the oldest son of the founder of the company, joined the management of Heinrich Elbracht OHG.

In 2004 Bernd Terbeek joined the management of the company after a few years at sea as a nautical officer.

Due to the steady growth, in 2005 Heinrich Elbracht oHG incorporated a branch office in Oslo, Norway. Within short, a large number of local clients could be acquired. It successfully established itself on the Scandinavian market as a recognized co-broker for international marine insurance companies.

In 2008 the company with its staff of currently 20 persons moved from the traditional office in the “Handelshof” into their new offices directly on the waterfront of the Emden Delft, the old commercial harbour.

In 2012 the company Elbracht had celebrated her 40 years anniversary together with clients, insurers and business friends.

In March 2017 the name was changed to Heinrich Elbracht Assekuranz-Makler GmbH & Co. KG.
